“I was always into music from as young as I can remember. I was brought up around Country (and Western!) \ rock ‘n roll \ Hawaiian \ folk, and started playing piano and trumpet for years until I picked up a guitar at the age of 18 and have been playing for 35 years.
On listening to Delicate Sound Of Thunder, I just wanted to play like Dave Gilmour. So my Mum showed me a few simple chords and it all followed from there. There were no guitar teachers or internet in the middle of nowhere in mid-Wales, so it was learning from Hot Licks VHS tapes of Arlen Roth, Viv Campbell and BB King that really got me on my way.
I’ve been in a lot of bands over time covering all sorts of material from metal to folk. I’ve covered profession function bands, tributes (Police\Sting, Dire Straits, Blues Brothers and Pink Floyd) and have depped\played full time lots of various covers band that include Scooby, Blueprint (who I played with for many years), Solsbury Hill (now half of Abacus), Steal, Soul Train, Freebird, Storm, Lettuceheads, Seriously Live, Occupants, Full Metal Jacket, Undercover, Back Street Driver and numerous others. I have also done solo acoustic\vocal work which I really do like.
I’m not currently playing in a full time band after having a complete break for a couple of years, so just depping for the likes of The Heaters, Frog On A Rocket, Stiff In The Morning, Stellar Groove, Fleeced and any others that want to hire a slightly chubby Welshman.”
